Chapter 3623 Takeoff
Under his own insistence, Nathan finally boarded the spaceship with Marcus and Eve, the leading crew members.
At the same time, Colin also boarded the spaceship with a troop.
The moment everyone had been waiting for had arrived.
Beacon of Dawn was officially ready to begin its flight test.
Nathan, Marcus, and Eve arrived at the heart of the spaceship, the bridge.
That was the command center of the spaceship, where all orders were issued.
As expected, Nathan took the commander's seat.
Marcus and Eve, on the other hand, took the deputy commander's seats to the left and right of him.
Of course, although Nathan held the position of commander, operating the spaceship was still the responsibility of Marcus and Eve.
At that moment, Marcus was exceptionally nervous. As a master of science, he wasn't fearful of death. However, he was afraid of failure.
This maiden flight of Beacon of Dawn was one for history books.
If the maiden flight succeeded, he would leave a significant mark in human history, and countless people would remember his name in the future.
Conversely, if it failed, he would go down in history.
The success or failure of it hinged on that very moment.
He took a deep breath and commanded in a deep voice, "Attention, all teams. Begin the final check and prepare for takeoff."
His voice echoed throughout the entire spaceship.
Through the live broadcast, it also appeared on the news being simultaneously broadcast across the globe. Countless people worldwide were standing before their televisions, anxiously witnessing that scene. The crew members of each team on the spaceship immediately sprang into action.
"They swiftly conducted the final inspection to make sure there were no issues with the spaceship and
it could take off smoothly."
Half an hour later, the leaders of each team reported that the inspections were completed, one after another. Marcus and Eve swung their gazes at Nathan.
That maiden flight was of great significance. As such, they hoped that Nathan would give the command to launch. Nathan said in a deep voice, "Launch and take off!"
"Understood!"
In an instant, the spaceship sprang into action as the devices of the various units were activated.
Marcus and Eve reached out in concert and pressed the launch button before them.
As both deputy commanders did that simultaneously, the engines underneath the spaceship immediately started whirring to life.
With a roar, the spaceship shuddered violently before it began to stabilize.
The engine underneath emitted a deep blue glow, and the light grew increasingly brighter. Finally, something akin to a pale blue flame, or perhaps a blue beam of light burst forth from the spaceship's engine.
On the heels of that, Beacon of Dawn, which was as massive as a steel fortress, slowly ascended to the sky.
Both the Earth Alliance God of Wars at the scene and the people in front of the television held their breaths.
That remained true until Marcus's voice came through the live broadcast.
"The first stage of Beacon of Dawn's launch has been successfully completed."
Everyone then let out a thunderous cheer.
Marcus proceeded to issue a second command. "Activate the second-stage propulsion for the spaceship to break through the atmosphere and leave Earth." Whoosh!
The spaceship began to accelerate, promptly transforming into a streak of light as it departed from Earth.
The audience in front of the television erupted into another round of cheers in amazement.
In truth, that speed was akin to a turtle's pace compared to the normal flight speed of a spaceship.
After leaving Earth, the spaceship took a leisurely tour around Earth.
After receiving Nathan's permission, Marcus once again issued the order
for the spaceship to accelerate.
leaving the solar system to take on its normal flight speed.
After the spaceship left the solar system, they began testing its flight under various modes.
For instance, attack mode, stealth mode, and the like needed to be tested.
All those were valuable experiences that would lay a solid foundation for the future development of spaceships on Earth.
Nathan asked Marcus and Eve, "How long will it take to test all the spaceship's systems?"
"It's estimated to be half a month, but it could be a bit longer," Marcus replied.
Nathan exclaimed in surprise, "That long?"
Marcus chuckled. "This is
considered a short duration. Usually, a spaceship on a mission might stay in outer space for a long time. It's nothing unusual to not return to the home planet for a year or even longer."
