Chapter 304
Chapter 304
Jason wasn't the only one shocked; the rest of the Locke family was equally stunned. Rebecca watched as Madison's follower count continued to rise and more people defended her. She pressed her lips together, her gaze darkening. William scrolled through the videos, then looked up at Madison on the hospital bed. "You..."
He wondered how his daughter had become so impressive.
Harvey said calmly, "Dad, you've watched Madison's livestreams. You were there for Mr. Salle's incident. You know whether Maddie is a scammer or not." William fell silent. He knew the truth. Yet when the situation arose, his first instinct was to believe Madison was a fraud.
He tumed to Tanya, who was also frowning at her phone.
She knew Maddie wasn't a scammer. She had witnessed the many incredible things Maddie had done. She had even accompanied Maddie to archaeological sites and watched several of her livestreams where Maddie had saved lives. Tanya couldn't understand why she felt this way or why she thought Maddie was using her livestreams to scam people when she knew the truth.
Jason and Ethan were at a loss for words. Madison's actions had surpassed their understanding.
The ward was eerily silent.
Harvey glanced at his family, whose expressions varied widely. Finally, he rested his gaze on Rebecca. She lowered her eyes, hiding her emotions behind a tight-lipped frown. It was clear she was not happy.
He turned back to William and said, "Dad, shouldn't Locke Corporation take a stand? Can't we sue the people who broke into the Locke residence and harmed Maddie? Shouldn't we also look into the organized defamation online?" William snapped back to attention and nodded. "You're right. They broke into the Locke residence and attacked Maddie, then went on to attack her online. We need to take a stand."
After discussing it for a while outside the hospital ward, Harvey returned. He sank into the couch, looking utterly exhausted.
Madison leaned against the headboard. "Harvey, you hurt your head. You should get some rest."
Harvey nodded, setting his hand down and looking at Madison. She furrowed her brows, confused by the look in his eyes.
After staring at her for a moment, he finally said, "I don't get why this is happening. The evidence was right in front of them, yet they still refused to believe it. Rebecca just shed a few tears and came up with excuses, and they bought into it completely." Harvey raised his hand to shield his eyes, his voice laced with helplessness as he said, "It seems they can't tell right from wrong or truth from lies. All they see is Rebecca's suffering."
Madison remained silent.
"Maddie, I'm sorry for putting you in this situation," Harvey said sincerely as he lowered his hand. "Not just for this incident, but for everything. As your family, we should've..." Madison shook her head. "It's not your fault."
Harvey gave a self-deprecating laugh. "You don't need to comfort me. Only now do I realize how foolish we've been."
Madison remained silent. She wanted to insist that it truly wasn't his fault. Who could resist the abilities of a favored one of the heavens? Even ordinary people couldn't help but adore someone blessed by fate.
She still didn't understand how Harvey was able to break free from Rebecca's influence. First, it was Jordan, and now, it was Harvey. People who had once placed their complete trust in Rebecca were beginning to awaken and think for themselves. Just then, Madison's phone rang.
