Chapter 713
After catching sight of the news, Claire's expression drained of all color. Without a second thought, she flung her tablet across the room. It collided with the wall and plummeted to the floor, the screen shattering into pieces. "Connor!!!" she shouted, teetering on the brink of fury. Claire was livid. She jumped up, changed out of her clothes, and stormed out of the room. Meanwhile, Diana was still in the dark about what had just transpired.
Claire headed straight to the office, but by the time she arrived, Connor and Chloe had already skipped town. They were aboard a private jet, soaring towards Riverbrook. Chloe was busy scrolling through her phone when she came across photos of Claire making her way back to Sartori Tower. Handing the phone to Connor, she remarked, "You called it. Your sister's definitely on her way back to stir up trouble. Lucky for us, we made our exit just in time."
Connor, who had been lounging with his eyes shut in a business-class seat, opened them but didn't bother with the phone. Instead, he pulled Chloe closer, wrapping her in his arms. "Make sure you have a bodyguard with you wherever we go. Best not to stray too far from my side," he advised. Chloe chuckled, "Is that really necessary?"
Connor, with a calm demeanor, replied, "When she's in a rage, who knows what she might do. Or maybe you could take a short escape to Switzerland with Cassie."
Chloe shook her head, reassured him, "Don't worry, I'll stay vigilant."
"You know, they say new leaders light three fires, but you've set the place ablaze," she teased.
Connor had kicked things off by stripping Claire of her deputy position and had orchestrated significant personnel shifts. He had meticulously planned for this moment, shaking Claire's foundation to its very core, nearly eradicating her influence. Yet, Claire's roots in the company ran deep. Uprooting her entirely would also harm Sartori Corporation, so some remnants remained.
"This is just the beginning," Connor continued. "She still has a handful of allies in high places. Over the next six months, I'll remove them one by one."
"And then there's Eldridge
Entertainment," he added. "Even though it's my sister's own venture its inflated worth hinges on Sartori Corporation's backing. Without that support, the bubble is bound to burst."
Chloe nodded, "Looks like Eldridge Entertainment might hit rock bottom again tomorrow."
"But she still holds twenty percent of Sartori Corporation's shares, making her the largest shareholder," Chloe pointed out. "Even without actual power, she can still make waves at every shareholder meeting
Connor seemed unfazed. "She won't let Eldridge Entertainment go under. There's just one way to save it."
Chloe mused, "You think she'll sell her shares in Sartori Corporation?"
"At least some," Connor speculated. "The more trouble Eldridge Entertainment finds itself in, the more she'll have to sell."
Chloe was puzzled, "Why are you so sure she'll sell her shares to save Eldridge Entertainment?"
"She will," Connor affirmed, "because Eldridge Entertainment is her passion."
Business dealings went over Chloe's head, and frankly, she wasn't all that interested. She sighed, "So, now that you're the big shot at Sartori Corporation, does that mean we're heading back to Eldridge City?"
Connor shrugged nonchalantly, "I'll be wherever you are. If you want to stick around Riverbrook, that's fine by me. If you're up for a change of scenery, we can do that too." Chloe knew Connor was shouldering much more pressure and responsibility than ever before.
