Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 704

Chapter 704

"Quickly come here, Johnson!" Aaron immediately called out into his walkie-talkie.

Johnson, who was following behind, hurried over to check on Hera's condition. He immediately performed emergency CPR before rushing her to the hospital's operating room.

After sending them off, Aaron walked toward the time bomb. He could still detect a strong burning smell although he was wearing a gas mask.

He noticed that all the wires of the bomb were still intact. However, the display casing had been severely burned, along with the server beside it.

Hera had forcibly used the server's electric current to cause the time bomb to short circuit, which destroyed its power source.

Her method of preventing the bomb from detonating was very aggressive and dangerous. Aaron had never seen anything like it. Hera was too reckless.

If the job was not done properly, it would've triggered the explosion right away. Hera's body would've been blown to bits.

Even though she was successful, the electric current caused by the short circuit was very dangerous. She could've ended up dead.

Aaron couldn't help but be impressed with her as he recalled her condition earlier. If she hadn't stopped the bomb from exploding, the entire building would have collapsed under the explosive power of this bomb. The lives of tens of thousands of guests and staff in the building would've been at risk.

He silently prayed that Hera would be safe.

The explosion at Linda's 50th birthday party made headlines around the world. This incident alone had caused Linda to single-handedly offend all the prestigious families across the country.

As soon as the stock market opened the next day, Killian Corporation's shares began to drop drastically. That continued for the next three days.

Chad suspended Rhett from his duties as the CEO of Killian Corporation due to the investigation. Linda was also fired from the company as she was being held in custody as a suspect. Even the financial officer, Frederick, had gone missing without a trace.

The entire Killian family was in chaos.

Three days later, Gino and Gideon stood outside the intensive care unit at Reinland Hospital.

"Killian Corporation's share price has hit an all-time low, so it's a good time to buy some shares. Gideon, do you want to buy some?" Gino swiped through the stock market details on his phone.

Gideon gazed at Hera through the glass window. She lay on the hospital bed with a ventilator and various tubes attached to her.

Even her left hand was bandaged. It had been more than two days ever since she lay motionless on the bed. The monitor displayed that her heart rate and blood pressure were at their lowest levels. Only the fog on her breathing mask proved that she was still alive.

Johnson had explained that although Hera had been rescued in time, the electric current had already caused damage to her body. If she did not wake up within 72 hours, she would very likely remain in a vegetative state.

By now, 70 hours had already passed. Gideon was very concerned for Hera and wasn't in the mood to celebrate how badly Killian Corporation's share price had plummeted.

"Since the share price has already dropped, why are you still buying them? Are you trying to help them?"

"Hera asked me to buy shares," Gino said solemnly. He stood on his tiptoes while glancing at Hera through the glass window.

She was clearly very capable, so he wondered why it took her so long to wake up. Was Hera not awake because Gino had not bought Killian Corporation's shares?

Gideon glanced at Gino suspiciously after hearing his explanation.

Having noticed Gideon's skepticism, Gino continued, "Last time, I earned a million dollars after buying the Chime family's shares.

"I shared half the profits with her, and she even praised me for it. So, she asked me to keep an eye on Killian Corporation's shares.

"She said that the price would drop sooner or later, so I should help her buy some when the time is right. I can buy them now since their prices are at an all-time low."

Gino then continued while making some transactions, "Once Hera is awake, she can earn at least ten million dollars from the hospital bed."

Gideon was willing to believe that Hera did mention Killian Corporation's share price dropping eventually. But he wasn't convinced that Hera praised Gino.

After making three transactions, Gino lifted his head and said to Gideon, "Even if you're not buying anything, you should lend me some money so that I can buy some more. Later, I'll share 10% of the profits with you."

Gino was willing to share 50% of the profits with Hera but only 10% with Gideon. Gino was definitely being unfair. Nevertheless, the thought of Hera made Gideon open his banking app. "How much do you need?"

"A few hundred million," Gino replied, leaving Gideon speechless.
