Chapter 702
Chapter 702
A loud explosion erupted on the southeast corner of the second floor. It was followed by two deafening blasts, causing the guests who just escaped to run around in a frenzy.
The entire building was shaking. The electrical circuits on each floor shorted out, causing all the lights to go out. Even the elevators came to a halt.
The guests trapped in the building started to scream. They felt very aggrieved. No one expected that attending a birthday banquet would lead to a terrorist attack.
The pregnant Aurora tightly held Karen's hand. They stood behind the crowd, not daring to push forward. However, they were also very anxious.
"Mom, we won't die here today, right?" Aurora asked uneasily.
"Don't be scared. Nothing will happen. Your father will lead a team to rescue us. Besides, your Uncle Bernard is also downstairs. He'll definitely capture those terrorists!" Karen wrapped her arms around Aurora. Not only was she consoling Aurora, but she was also reassuring herself.
But the building shook quite violently. Even Karen felt that their hope was quite slim. The stairwells were completely blocked, so they couldn't escape at all.
Rescue wasn't coming, and more bombs were about to explode. The whole building would collapse, leaving them buried in the rubble.
Aurora was far more distressed and began to rub her tummy. It wasn't easy for her to keep the baby, yet she was caught in the middle of a terrorist attack now.
"Nothing will happen, Grandma, Mom. We should believe in Hera and Granduncle Bernard. They'll definitely find a way to resolve this!" Roman said resolutely.
Hera was able to bring him back to life, so she'd definitely be able to save everyone. After all, she brought him here to expose Linda's misdeeds, so Hera must have a plan and strategy. If Hera and Bernard couldn't resolve it, they would all die together.
Aurora and Karen became convinced by Roman's firm tone. He was right. Hera was still downstairs. Such an intelligent young lady like her would have a plan.
Meanwhile, Chad was downstairs at the southeast corner of the Imperial Hotel. He stood in the command area, and his gaze was fixed on the second floor.
The explosion had shattered the windows, causing plenty of stone debris to fall. Neil hurriedly used an umbrella to shield Chad from the debris.
"Mr. Killian, it's dangerous here, so you should head to the back first. Don't worry. We'll definitely handle these terrorists, prevent the bomb from exploding, and reduce the number
of casualties," said Joshua, the on-site commander.
"Thanks for your hard work," Chad replied with a nod. Yet he did not budge an inch.
Joshua glanced at Neil. "Please ask your boss to quickly leave."
Neil nodded before advising Chad, "Mr. Bernard will be fine, Mr. Chad. He'll definitely return safely."
Outsiders might assume that Chad was worried about the situation at the Imperial Hotel. However, only Neil knew very well that Chad was worried about Bernard, who was still fighting inside the building.
All this while, everyone assumed that Chad did not care for Bernard. In reality, Chad would actually drink his sorrows away after every argument with Bernard.
Chad clearly cared about Bernard but wasn't good at expressing it. They would always argue whenever they met.
"Do I look like I care about him? I'm worried about the tens of thousands of lives inside. Aury and the others are inside as well."
Chad glared at Neil for speaking so bluntly. However, Chad couldn't help but glance several times at the second floor even after turning to head for the safe zone.
Although Neil had noticed Chad's concern, he did not point it out. Instead, he slapped his mouth. "I was out of line."
"Check all the surveillance cameras. Investigate who's responsible for installing the bombs, "Chad continued.
Neil said, "Yes, sir."
Meanwhile, Linda was leisurely sipping her coffee in the café across the street. She did not feel an ounce of sympathy for the panicking crowd opposite her. Instead, she was waiting for another explosion that would destroy the entire building.
So many VIPs had to die just because Linda wanted Hera dead.
