The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection

Chapter Billionaire With Husband 196

Chapter 196

There was no way Felix did not know that man. His eyes seemed to ask if Xena had any proof of his crime.

"I said I don't know him. Why would I need to look closely?" Felix shot back.

Xena laughed coldly and said, "You smell like snakefruit. I caught a whiff last night, and I can still smell it now! The guy in the photo had also been near a snakefruit. So I've got good reason to think you're a prime suspect in his death!" Felix leaned back on the couch. Crossing his legs, he looked completely unbothered." Smell? That's rich. If a woman dies and you smell the same perfume on another woman, does that make her a murderer? What kind of logic is that?" Xena was fuming. She had expected this, but she had not realized Felix would be this brazen. She knew exactly how skilled Olly's disciple had been. Even someone with a gun would have had a hard time taking him out. "Fine. In that case, be ready to report to the Phoenix Legion anytime," Xena said with a

huff.

In the past, Felix might have been worried about the time wasted. But now, with his Dragon Alliance membership out in the open, he had an ace up his sleeve. "I'll cooperate once, but if you keep harassing me without cause, remember-I'm a Dragon Alliance member. I'll report this

up the chain."

Xena's expression darkened. She had completely forgotten about Dragon Alliance. "Alright, Felix. Keep it up. Your luck will run out eventually. You can't cover your tracks perfectly every time."

Meanwhile, at the headquarters of the Phoenix Legion, Belle was listening to a subordinate's report.

"I see." She frowned hard as she listened.

Xena had sent people to investigate a hill and left her out of it completely. If Belle had not had her own trusted informants, she would have been totally in the dark. Her frown deepened as she quickly looked up the victim's name in the system.

"The Great Imperial Sect? Isn't that Ms. Summers' sect?" She then checked the surveillance footage of a club in Avesburgh and confirmed that Felix had indeed been there recently.

It all made sense now. This sect member's death was connected to Felix.

"Is Xena keeping me out of the loop because she's worried I'll abuse my authority against

Felix due to personal feelings?" Convinced her analysis was correct, Belle suddenly smiled.

"If Felix is still showing his face in public, it must be like before-Ms. Summers has no solid evidence. Even if she suspects him, he's not going down. Not with the Phoenix Legion's methods, anyway."

After muttering to herself, she made a phone call. "Write an anonymous letter to the Great Imperial Sect. I'll dictate, you write."

Back at the club, Jack returned after the Phoenix Legion had left. "What was that all about, Felix? They just stuck me in another room and did nothing."

Felix, of course, did not mention Xena's visit. He just smiled and said, "Don't worry about it. The place is still open; don't let it ruin your mood. Let's carry on."

Jack nodded. "Right, we still need to deal with the Madeline situation!"

Felix beckoned to a hostess who had just entered. "Go get your manager for me."

When the manager arrived, Felix said, "Bring me that beautiful woman you recommended earlier."

The manager smiled apologetically. "I'm afraid Madeline's gone home. She's one of our top girls, so she has a lot of freedom. How about I find you someone else, sir?"
