"Kane, is it true that you're here to take Hugo?" Once they stopped, Callum's father, Edward Lambert, was the first to speak. His tone carried a certain air of authority.

"Indeed. He has crossed the wrong people. What problem could there be with me taking him away?"

After saying that, Kane shifted his gaze to Ernest, who was standing next to Edward.

Despite Ernest's plain appearance and calm eyes, Kane sensed there was more beneath the surface. After all, as the deputy chief of Dragon Alliance's Oasis Clinic, he had a keen eye for such things. "Sir, I presume you're a major support for the Lambert family. Am I right?" Kane asked with a faint smile.

"Edward said that you're the local kingpin of Avesburgh's underworld. I didn't expect you to be so refined," Ernest replied.

Upon hearing that, Kane cupped his fists respectfully.

"That's an overstatement. To be clear, I must take Hugo with me today. If you insist on intervening, please provide me with a reason for leaving on my own."

Before Ernest could respond, the beautiful woman spoke haughtily, "This is my grandfather, Ernest Holt. If you had any real skill, I'm sure his name would be enough to deter you. Ernest Holt?

Kane was struck with shock. Judging from Ernest's unperturbed demeanor, as if he wouldn't flinch even if the sky fell, it seemed highly likely that the lady was telling the truth.

"Don't be rude!" Ernest suddenly scolded Sherlyn and then turned to Hugo. "Have you killed anyone, Hugo?"

Startled, Hugo quickly replied, "I haven't, Mr. Holt."

"Have you injured anyone?"

Injured? Hugo thought that Ernest was likely referring to the incident with Kane.

"No, I swear!" The kick he had given Warren was more of a blow to Warren's pride rather than causing physical harm.

Ernest then turned to Kane. "Is what he says true?"

Kane, a man of distinction, had no reason to lie. "As far as I know, he's telling the truth."

Ernest nodded. "In that case, you may leave. Do not come back to trouble the Lambert family."

Leaving? That was impossible! The final decision didn't rest with Kane.

Just as he was about to take out his phone to make a call, applause sounded. "As expected from the revolutionary I admire! You don't make conclusions based on just one side of the story." Everyone turned to see Felix approaching while clapping his hands.

In fact, he had arrived earlier but stayed hidden to gauge whether Ernest was worth his intervention, though Ernest's presence was unexpected.
