The Man in Power After Being Married into Her Family

Chapter 4247

Janus replied, "In fact, the restaurant's already closed. The two people that you just saw are my old friends' children. It's already so late, but they haven't eaten lunch yet. So I told them to go upstairs." Janus then added, "But since you're already here, I can't possibly let your trip here be for naught. Do take a seat on the first floor. Tell me what you want to eat, and I'll prepare it for you right away." "Okay." Christian nodded with a smile. "Thank you, Boss."

He then said to Merlin, "Merlin, feel free to sit down. I'll let you try the best Oskian-style roast goose in all of New York."

Merlin smacked his lips in anticipation. " Geez. I actually just want to have a couple of drinks right now.

His gaze fell on the small wine cabinet behind the restaurant counter. Surprised, he asked, "Boss, you sell Macallan here?"

"Yes." Janus smiled. "It's imported from Oskia. Would you like to try a bottle?"

Merlin grinned cheerfully. "Yes! Give us two bottles!"

Christian teased, "You're drinking so much when it's still noon. Don't you have to work in the afternoon?"

Merlin shook his head. "I can't find any clues, anyway. I'll go to the office to sleep later. I've already been going around in circles for two days now. It's high time I

enjoy some good sleep." Christian nodded and Alright, then. I'll drink with you, and then I'll go back and sleep afterwards. I'm returning to Los Angeles early tomorrow morning, anyway."

Merlin was shocked. "Why are you leaving so soon? Aren't you going to stay in New York for two more days?"

Christian waved his hand. "I can't stay any longer. I have to go back and see my father. It's been a while since I came back from Oskia, and I haven't gone home yet."

Merlin nodded with great understanding. "In that case, it really is time for you to go home and see him. Do pass my best wishes to Lord Acker and Lady Acker."

He suddenly remembered something and added, "Lord Acker should still remember me, right?"

Christian nodded. "Yes."

"That's good."

Charlie, who was on the second floor, felt a

little uncomfortable.

He didn't want to have anything to do with his maternal grandfather's family, but in the two times he had a near encounter with his uncle Christian, he felt more or less strange. In fact, it was more of a contradiction.

On one hand, Charlie would like to draw a clear line with them. On the other hand, he wished he could go up to them and greet them. At the same time, he wanted to ask Christian why the Acker family despised and looked down on his

father so much in the past.

In addition, he also wanted to ask if the Acker family knew the real reason his parents were murdered.

Quinn, who was sitting opposite

Charlie, noticed his discomfort. She

reached out to gently hold his hand, and spoke to him in a soothing voice and a soft gaze, "What's wrong, Brother Charlie?"

Charlie replied casually, "Nothing. I'm fine."

"You're not," Quinn said seriously. "Do you feel uncomfortable because your uncle's sitting downstairs?"

"Kind of." Charlie nodded, not even bothered to suppress his feelings.

Quinn suddenly felt sorry for Charlie.

She knew that despite Charlie's extraordinary strength and

achievements, he hadn't been happy in the ten to twenty years after his parents tragically passed away. It was inevitable for his heart to have some sensitive spots deep down.

She squeezed Charlie's hand and said seriously, "Brother Charlie. If you feel uncomfortable, I'll lend you my mask and

we can leave." Charlie smiled faintly. "It's okay to get used to it."
