The Elemental Sisters: Spirit

Chapter Chapter Thirty Six (Tyr)

"How can you be tired? You slept all day?" Sunama asked Akasha, as she walked towards us with a pot full of water.

"She needs to sleep to fight the infection, leave her alone." Gia scolded her as she dumped cut up vegetables and herbs into the pot Sunama had handed her.

"We should eat and have an early night, tomorrow might not be so calm." Huricana pointed out as she looked up at the sky.

"I agree we were supposed t have run into the Drow already, but the camp's location wasn't where the scouts said it would be." I shared.

"We will have to take turns on night shift and make sure the Drow didn't find out about our plans and decide to plan a night attack." Akasha shared.

When the soup Gia had made was done, she handed everyone a bowl. It was a simple vegetable soup, but it was delicious. After everyone had eaten, we retired to our tents, aside from the ones who opted to take the first shift. Akasha headed into the tent to sleep while I sat outside with Mohan and Ezryn, taking first watch.

"So, I hear from one of the King's guards that your father is not too happy with your interest in Akasha." Mohan stated.

"Lucky for me I don't listen to my father." I shrugged. Nothing my father said would stop me from being with her, somehow, I felt that we were bound, and I would die before I let someone try to sever it.

"Prince Uda has eyes on her too." Ezryn pointed out, and I frowned.

"Prince Uda doesn't have as much power as he thinks he does, and Akasha would never be interested in him." I spat, disgusted.

"Look at the prince getting all jealous." Frey laughed, walking over from doing rounds.

"If I told you once I told you a thousand times, just call me Tyr." I scolded him. "And what if he was going after Ari?"

Frey, who had just taken a swig of whiskey, spit it out laughing hysterically, "if he tried anything with Ari, he would lose a couple hundred pounds and be nothing but ash."

Ezryn nodded in agreement, "She would reduce him to embers if he tried to touch any of them, and Akasha isn't no pushover either."

"Speak of the devil and he shall appear." Mohan mumbled as Prince Uda walked towards us.

"Uda, what are you doing up so late?" I asked him.

"It's Prince Uda." He corrected me, puffing out his chest.

"Maybe to the army, but you're my younger half brother and we have the same title, so I will call you Uda if I want." I retorted, annoyed, but mostly it was to piss him off. "Well, when I am King..."

"You'll do what exactly? You will need me on your side to run your army." I laughed, annoyed.

"I think I can run my own army."

"We will see about that, won't we?"

"You disrespect me, and father will hear of it."

I shrugged, not wishing to humor him any longer. He sounded like a child always reporting back to daddy with any inconvenience that besets him.

"Tomorrow we will be going up against the Drow, I want you to stay with Bram and Ward and out of everyone else's way." I told him.

"I am not a child."

"You are not trained in battle, so stay with the guards."

"I don't have to listen to you."

"Then don't I just figured you would want to live?"

Prince Uda's face turned red, but he didn't respond just stormed away from the fire and back to his tent.

I took out my sword and sharpening stone and spit on it, then slid my blade across it sharpening it. It took everything in me not to attack that sorry excuse for a human; I don't know what the hell my father was thinking keeping him so sheltered, part of me wondered if it was his mother was doing it, preventing him from any type of harm. That's all the elf Kingdom needed was a soft King who couldn't even wield a sword.

"Hey, don't let it get to you, your father will see reason soon enough, maybe this is all just a way to test you to see if you are ready to be King." Mohan offered.

I laughed, "My father would never name me as King. He has tried to set up my death multiple times by sending me on the missions he has."

"You can't know that." Ezryn pointed out.

"Well, I do, I have seen and overheard him with others. It's fine. I have known for a long time now."

Ezryn nodded, but said nothing.

"Mohan, find two scouts to send out now, I want to know how far the Drow are from us and how many men they have. I don't want to be caught off guard tomorrow." Mohan nodded, "I will do that right away." He replied, standing and heading away from the fire.

After my shift for the night was done, I headed into the tent and laid down beside Akasha, her sisters were taking the next shift and decided to let her rest.

I felt her head, and she was still fighting a fever so grabbed a wet cloth from the bucket that Gia had brought and wet it, wiping down her forehead and face.

She moaned in her sleep but didn't wake up; I wet the cloth again and folded it, placing it on her forehead, before laying down again, propping myself up on some pillows. I made sure my sword was within reach, just in case. She rolled over and rested her head on my chest; I adjusted the cloth again as her head as her breathing deepened.

I drifted in and out of sleep, wanting to be alert in case of an attack, by morning Akasha's fever had broken.

I could hear a bunch of voices outside.

"What's going on?" Akasha asked, sitting up and looking around to find the source of the noise.

We headed out of the tent.

"Tyr, the scouts have returned." Mohan reported.

"And?" I asked

"There is no evidence of the Drow."

"What do you mean, no evidence?" I asked, confused. Were we sent to the wrong place?

"I mean, there is no army here."

As Mohan stated that yelling could be heard, I looked around to see the army fighting amongst themselves.

"What the hell is going on?" I yelled as one man charged towards us.
