Shattered Vows Shining Comeback

Chapter 47

Chapter 47 Eighteen–Million–Dollar Necklace

In the evening, Gwen and Yara visited a luxury store to pick up a few items.

As soon as they entered, the staff immediately notified the account manager after recognizing Gwen.

The account manager came with a bright smile on his face. “Ms. Lawson, please give us a moment. The Jewelry you reserved is still in the safe because it’s highly valuable. We’ll need some time to retrieve it. In the meantime, let me show you some other items.”

Gwen gave a slight nod and replied, “No worries. We’ll browse around on our own.”

Gwen and Yara wandered through the store, but nothing caught their attention. “Babe, the clothes on this floor aren’t great. They’re all leftovers. Let’s head upstairs,” Yara said as she pulled Gwen upstairs.

The account manager had a hesitant look on his face and awkwardly apologized, “I’m really sorry, but the second floor has been reserved by a few ladies. It’s not convenient for you to go up right now.”

Gwen smiled back faintly. “No worries, we’ll just take the jewelry and leave,” she reassured.

The account manager expressed his gratitude repeatedly. It was rare to meet wealthy customers who didn’t cause

trouble.

Gwen and Yara sat on the couch and happily played games on their phones. Their voices drifted upstairs through the open staircase, and Sarah overheard them.

Sarah’s expression instantly changed when she looked through the glass and saw Gwen.

One of the wealthy women covered her mouth and snickered as she took the opportunity to insult Sarah, “Mrs. Hall, 1 heard that your family has become famous online for being hard on your daughter–in–law. Is that true?”

“Has your daughter, Caitlin, been released from police custody yet?”

In the world of the wealthy, any chance to belittle others to elevate themselves was seized. The women wasted no time to poke at Sarah’s sore spots.

Sarah forced a smile, gripping her teacup tightly. “That’s nonsense. Hall Group has already issued an official statement. Those were all baseless rumors. Caitlin was just assisting with a police investigation. Besides, she’s studying abroad now.”

The laughter from downstairs irked Sarah badly. Unable to withhold her anger, she stormed downstairs and arrogantly confronted the two. “I was wondering who it was. Turns out it’s none other than the walking disaster herself.

“You sure have a filthy mouth!” Yara stood up immediately, ready to argue, but Gwen calmly held her back

“Ignore her. There’s no point talking to people like her,” Gwen said coolly. She glanced at the account manager and added, Just hold on to the jewelry. I’ll come back another day.”

Gwen had long ignored anything related to the Hall family. There was no point engaging with petty people like them. The account manager checked the time and suggested, “Ms. Lawson, the jewelry is already on its way. Why not wait another five minutes?”

“Sure,” Gwen replied.

She decided to wait a little longer since she needed the gemstone necklace for an upcoming banquet.

Sarah felt as though her efforts had been in vain. Gwen wasn’t responding to her provocations at all.

“The items here aren’t cheap. Can you even afford them?” Sarah sneered with her arms crossed arrogantly. “I could be generous and buy you a few sets if you want.

“Just take your things and leave. Stop spreading negative rumors about the Hall family. Keep your mouth shut,

understood?” she added.

Yara fumed, nearly jumping up to retaliate. “Who do you think you are, talking down to us like that?”

Gwen smirked and raised her eyebrows slightly. “Mrs. Hall, how generous of you. Are you sure I can pick anything I want?”

“Of course,” Sarah responded arrogantly, motioning for the staff to assist Gwen with her chin.

After enduring online criticism and the taunts of the other women upstairs, Sarah was eager to do anything to restore her pride.

Although the clothes in this store were expensive, Sarah’s personal funds could still afford it. Even if Gwen went crazy and wanted to buy everything, she’d entertain her.

Gwen scanned the store and calmly said, “I don’t want any of the clothes here.”

Sarah crossed her arms and sneered, “As expected, someone like you can’t even handle a little luxury.”

At that moment, a white armored car pulled up outside. Two guards stepped out, carrying a silver briefcase.

The account manager hurried over and informed, “Ms. Lawson, your item has arrived.”

He carefully took the briefcase, slipped on white gloves, and opened the first layer to reveal a velvet–blue jewelry box. Then, he opened the second layer, displaying a dazzling necklace inside.

Gwen glanced casually at the necklace. “Mrs. Hall said she’d buy me something. How about this necklace?” she asked

Sarah.

Gwen then turned to look at the account manager. “How much is this?”

“Ms. Lawson, the necklace is priced at 18 million dollars.”

Sarah was so shocked that she dropped her teacup, her mouth hanging open in disbelief.

Eighteen million dollars!

There was no way she had that kind of

money.
