Chapter 3619 Another Way Out
Nathan rode on the horse, and wherever he looked, everyone bowed their heads in fear.
No one dared to meet his gaze.
"Release those poor souls!" Nathan ordered coldly.
The protesters stared blankly at one another before quickly regaining their composure. They promptly released all the innocent people in the square.
Nathan's expression softened slightly as he commanded again, "I don't care who you are or where you come from, but I must tell you, you've crossed the line with your actions. Disperse immediately and return to your homes!"
One could not deny that ever since the end of the first great war between humans and vampires, Nathan's name had echoed around the world.
Not long ago, Nathan formed the Earth Alliance and successfully repelled the invasion of the Gods. Following this, his prestige reached its peak.
Even though those protesters dared to burn the Earth Alliance flag and Nathan's portrait earlier, now that he had appeared before them, they did not dare to even let out a squeak.
"Come on, let's disperse..." someone shouted among the protesters.
Soon, the massive group of protesters gradually dispersed.
They eventually scattered a long while later, and the Neutral Zone reverted to its usual tranquility.
The people whom Nathan had just saved came up to express their gratitude.
Many vampires, who had been hiding in the shadows, also emerged, thanking Nathan for his noble act of maintaining the stability of the relationship between humans and vampires. Even the elites who had settled down in the Neutral Zone were casting respectful gazes toward Nathan.
Suddenly, a tall Adrunian beauty wearing a black veil appeared before Nathan.
She respectfully greeted, "Mr. Cross!"
Nathan recognized her. She turned out to be Hepburn's subordinate, Lyanna.
He was somewhat surprised. "Lyanna, what are you doing here?"
Lyanna smiled and replied, "Queen Hepburn sent me here. She knew trouble was brewing in the Neutral Zone, so she sent me here to keep an eye on things."
After saying that, she inquired curiously, "Mr. Cross, have you come to Scarlet Land to meet with Queen Hepburn?"
Nathan nodded. "Yes. There are some things I wish to discuss with her."
"Very well. I'll take you all into Scarlet Land," said Lyanna.
Nathan responded, "I appreciate your help."
Lyanna waved her hand, and instantly, several vintage carriages appeared, eventually stopping beside Nathan, Penny, and the others.
"Mr. Cross, Mrs. Cross, please get in the carriage," Lyanna said with a smile.
Nathan and the others did as they were told.
The convoy of carriages slowly set off, leaving the Neutral Zone.
The convoy traveled for the better part of the day before entering Scarlet Land. They journeyed through half the night, finally arriving at Yiefmery, the headquarters of the vampires. Hepburn was worrying about the situation in the Neutral Zone.
In truth, she did not fear the Holy Knights, nor was she afraid of the protest marches.
She even could, if she wished, send out a group of powerful vampires to annihilate these protesters.
However, she could not do it.
Right now, everyone around the
world is keeping an eye on the vampires. After much difficulty, Nathan managed to secure an area for the vampires, carving out a small living space. If the vampires lose their patience and start a massacre against the protesters, the other humans will surely exploit the situation. This will lead to a deterioration in the relationship between humans and vampires, and the plan for the two races to coexist will likely fail completely.
Hence, Hepburn had been quite troubled recently and was also very concerned about the situation in the Neutral Zone. Never had she expected Nathan to show up.
Not only that, but he had also conveniently helped her resolve the recent situation of protest marches in the Neutral Zone.
In an instant, she was overwhelmed with joy and surprise. She quickly led her subordinates out to welcome Nathan and his wife.
"Mr. Cross! Mrs. Cross!" Hepburn greeted Nathan and Penny enthusiastically.
Nathan's expression remained unchanged.
Penny felt a little uneasy, knowing that Hepburn was once the Holy Maiden of the Curia but had currently become the vampire queen.
The two knew each other in the past, but now that their statuses have changed, they could not help but feel a bit strange when they meet again.
"I heard that people here don't
believe in coexistence between the
two races, and the situation has
become quite tense. So, I made a I
special trip to see for myself
Nathan explained.
Hepburn gave a wry smile. "I didn't think it would disturb you, Mr. Cross."
As she led the way, she said, "Mr. Cross, Mrs. Cross, please come in and have a seat. Let's talk!"
Upon arriving at the main hall, both parties took their seats according to their respective statuses.
Nathan then inquired about the recent situation of the vampires.
Hepburn related it to him.
It could only be described in four words, "It isn't looking good."
After hearing that, Nathan asked, "Is there anything I can help with?"
Hepburn shook his head. "Mr. Cross, you've done more than enough for the vampires. Now, the Adrunians are somewhat critical of you because you proposed the
coexistence of two races. If you net
keep speaking up for the vampires, they might start to hate you. I don't want to drag you into this. You should stay out of this mess."
After a long silence, Nathan finally spoke. "The vampires may have to seek another way out."
"The vampires will surely find a way out," Hepburn said resolutely.
