Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James)

Chapter 1402

Two years back, when Colby first set foot in Devonport, Gordon had handed him an invitation. At that auction, he met Sophie for the very first time. Back then, it all seemed like destiny. But as it turned out, it was all Gordon's meticulous planning.

Colby remembered how Gordon once used the pretense of finding his mother's lost keepsake to send him off to an overseas auction. There, he stumbled upon a sapphire ring, identical to the one his mother wore. He bought it, blissfully unaware that this ring had always been a part of the Russell family's collection. Gordon had tactically placed the Russell family's ring in the auction, waiting for it to land in Colby's hands. It was undeniable-Gordon was a master strategist.

Gordon likely knew from the start that the Costello family's ring was with Joseph. Sending Colby to the auction was just a clever move to ensure the ring's smooth transition to Sophie. Colby found himself in a dilemma-should he be upset with Gordon for using him, or grateful for bringing his true love into his life?

"Colby? Why are you just standing there at the door?"

Sophie's voice snapped him back to reality. With a smile, he walked over to her and said, "I was just thinking, once you're all healed up, we'll head back home."

Sophie smiled back, though her heart felt a tinge of heaviness and a hint of loss. She glanced at the badge in her hand, wondering where Gordon was at that moment. Was he keeping his distance?

Meanwhile, at the airport, Rick was maneuvering Gordon's wheelchair. "Sir, it's almost time to board."

"Yeah."

Rick couldn't help but ask, "Are you sure you don't want to see Ms. Sophie one last time?"

Rick had seen firsthand everything Gordon had done for Sophie over the past two years. Now that the storm had passed, and peace was finally settling in, Gordon decided to leave Devonport. Rick couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for him.

Gordon replied calmly, "Everything's been sorted out. There's no need for me to stick around with the Aldridge family. I've passed the reins to Harold, and he's more than capable now." "But Ms. Sophie..."

"For Sophie, my departure is the only

way she can truly find happiness." With a faint smile, Gordon

continued, "If I fade out of her life et

I

she won't dwell on the past. Knowing she's happy makes everything I've done worth it."

"...Understood, sir."

Rick pushed Gordon towards the boarding gate. This might be a farewell for good. But now, in Devonport, no one would pose

threat to Sophie. The town was inet

enjoying newfound peace. Yet, for everyone involved, the road ahead

might still be challenging

A month later, Sophie had mostly recovered. She stood stunned in the office, facing a mountain of paperwork.

"What... is all this?" Sophie asked, bewildered.

Tricia, with a smile, said, "Ms. Sophie, these are the work reports that have piled up over the past few months. Time to catch up!"
