Chapter 580
Sebastian wanted to kill Fressia to prevent future troubles. However, a massive whirlpool suddenly appeared from the depths below.
Its sheer force was so overpowering that neither of them could resist. They were quickly pulled in and lost consciousness.
...
Three wooden cottages stood next to a reddish-brown forest. A wide river flowed past their front doors, with a quaint bridge arching over the water. The whole scene looked like it belonged in a painting.
Inside one of the cottages, a man and a woman were lying on the bed. The man possessed an undeniable authority, while the woman possessed an almost otherworldly beauty. They were Sebastian and Fressia. Sebastian was the first to wake up. He felt a splitting headache and then sat up with a blank face. As he looked around, nothing seemed familiar. When he noticed Fressia lying beside him, his confusion only grew. Just then, an elderly woman entered the room. "You're awake."
"Ma'am, where am I? How did I end up here?" he asked, still dazed.
The elderly woman, Jenna, smiled warmly. "You're in my home. You two lovebirds passed out by the river, and I had someone bring you here."
"Lovebirds?" Sebastian turned to look at Fressia.
Jenna seemed surprised. "Aren't you a couple?"
He shook his head. "I don't know her."
"Huh? But when I found you, the two of you were hugging each other tightly," she said, puzzled.
Sebastian tried to recall his memories but couldn't. "I think I've lost my memories."
"Oh, that explains it." Jenna finally understood. She continued, "You were hugging each other so tightly that we couldn't even pull you apart. So, I thought you must be a couple.
"But don't worry, I had a local doctor check on you. You're okay, and your memory should return soon.
"Unfortunately, this young lady's condition isn't that good. Her injuries are severe, and she'll need a long time to recover."
"Thank you for saving us, ma'am," Sebastian said gratefully.
"It's nothing. My children are away, so it gets lonely. Your company is a nice distraction."
Jenna was kind-hearted. Despite her humble means, she didn't hesitate to bring them back and care for them.
Soon, Fressia woke up.
"Sebastian Wilder!" she exclaimed upon seeing him.
But as soon as she spoke, confusion clouded her face, and she couldn't remember anything. "Who am I? How did I get here?"
"Huh?" Jenna gasped. "Miss, don't tell me you've also lost your memory?"
Fressia shook her head. "I don't know. I don't remember anything."
"Well, it seems you both have amnesia. Don't worry. You'll be okay," Jenna reassured them.
Then, she turned to Sebastian and said jokingly, "It looks like your girlfriend's feelings for you are pretty strong. She still remembers your
name even after losing her memory.
"It makes sense though. A Westerner willing to leave everything behind to follow you. She must really care about you."
Since they had lost their memories, Sebastian and Fressia learned about their surroundings from Jenna.
They were currently in a world called the Coreland. It was divided into East and West by the Crosscurrent River.
The East and the West had been at odds for thousands of years. They were locked in a bitter rivalry that ofte erupted into fierce battles.
Each side had established their own empires. The East was known as the Starfire Empire, while the West was called the Twilight Empire.
Sebastian and Fressia were now in a small village on the outskirts of the Starfire Empire.
In this world, martial prowess was valued above scholarly pursuits. Hence, commoners could only ise
to prominence by becnet
warriors.
