Chapter 127
Nora's POV
I kept tossing and turning in my bed, thinking about what to do after waking up from a long sleep, which I could only achieve by taking sleeping pills. I had already been awake for hours, but I continued to stay in bed when I realized there was nothing for me to do, and I had no appetite. "He is mad at you. What will you do now?" Lolita said to me, and I sighed. "You've done your best, but it seems like he no longer wants you. You even cooked for him, and he poured it away. Will you give up now?" Lolita continued. Honestly, I was tired too, and I wanted to give up. But, I knew that giving up would mean losing Maddison forever, which I never wanted. I shook my head. "No, I won't give up. I will try my best to win him over," I replied to Lolita, who groaned. "You should stay strong, Nora," Lolita advised, and it was exactly what I needed at that moment. A smile appeared on my face, and I sat up in bed. "There is something I want to do, but I've forgotten what it is," I said, and Lolita remained quiet for a while before she replied, "What's that? I can't remember anything either." She said, and I frowned. What was it? Oh, yeah! "I wanted to talk to Alpha Leo! I haven't spoken with him since all this started, and he deserves an apology from me too," I replied and ended the mind link with Lolita. I closed my eyes, pressed my hand to my chest, and took deep breaths. I was nervous to talk to him again after everything I had done to him when I didn't understand him. I was scared he might have blocked me too, but I decided to give it a try and connected to him. "Alpha Leo," I called, but there was no response. "Can you hear me, Alpha Leo?" I asked again, but still, there was no response, and I sighed. I should have known he would have blocked me after all that.
"Yes, Nora. How are you?" His voice sounded in my mind, and my eyes widened! "Oh, thank goodness! He didn't block me," I said happily, forgetting the fact that I was still connected to him. "Block? Why would I block you?" He asked, and I lowered my head. I felt guilty.
"After all the hurtful words I said to you then, I thought you would have blocked me. I didn't even bother to listen to you or understand you, and I just talked to you that way. I'm so sorry," I apologized sincerely, and he was quiet for a while, but I didn't want him to reply either because it would only make it more awkward. "I will be coming to your pack this weekend. I want to come and apologize to you in person. Can I come?" I asked, hoping he wouldn't turn me down due to his anger. "No problem. You don't need my permission to visit my pack. You are always welcome, Nora, and I'm always here for you anytime you need someone to talk to," he said calmly, and I was glad. It was nice to have someone who would stay with you anytime, any day. "Thank you very much," I said gratefully. I was about to end the mind link when his voice came through again. "Are you okay?" he asked, and my heart sank. I let out a deep breath and shook my head. "I'm not. A lot is going on in my life these days that's making me sick and tired," I replied, and he sighed. "Is it about Maddison?" he asked, and I sucked in a deep breath. "Yes. Maddison is angry with me, and I don't know what to do anymore," I lamented as a tear ran down my cheek, but I wiped it away almost instantly. "You don't need to worry too much. Maddison is just angry, and with time, he will come around. Just hang in there and wait for him, okay?" he comforted me, and I nodded my head, but it made me understand him more. "How did you manage?" I asked softly. "Manage what?" he asked, and I could sense his confusion. "When I said those hurtful words to you and when I got married to Maddison, you must have felt hurt, but how did you manage? I have only been away from Maddison for just a few days now, and it already feels like I'm going to die. This feeling is suffocating. How were you able to survive it all alone?" I asked him as tears rolled down my face again. The pain of being away from my man was too much.
He sighed, and there was silence for a while. "It was hard to bear, and it was very painful, but I'm a man and an Alpha of a pack. I can't afford to dwell in my pain too much, and I had no choice but to move on. It was just like that," he replied, and I nodded in agreement. Being an Alpha must have helped him a lot because he wouldn't want to stay weak when there was a lot to do in his pack. Alpha Leo was indeed strong, not just physically but also emotionally. "Okay, I will see you on the weekend," I said to him before ending the mind link.
I stayed in bed for a few more minutes before I stood up and entered the bathroom. I decided to soak myself in a warm bath; maybe it would ease my tense mood a little. It helped because by the time I came out of the bathroom an hour later, I already felt rejuvenated, and I sat back on my bed. "Won't you visit Maddison today?" Lolita asked me, and it dawned on me that I had to see him again. "I should go and try my best again today," I said with a smile as I walked over to my closet and picked a long gown with a jacket, which I quickly put on and stepped out of my room.
"I will be back after seeing Maddison," I said to Maxwell, who seemed to be doing something on his phone, and I left the house. I took a cab to Maddison's house, and I arrived in no time. "Where is your lord?" I asked the maids, who were glad to see me again, and all came out to welcome me. "My Lord went out a few hours ago, and he's not yet back," one of them replied to me, and I nodded. It was a good thing he wasn't around because I would have enough time to plan whatever I wanted to do for the day to win him over. "I will go and relax in the room then," I said to the maids and walked past them. I was about to climb the first step when I stopped and turned to face the maids again. "Did he eat before he left?" I asked, and they shook their heads. "He complained about not having an appetite, Madam," they replied, and I smiled. I did not have to think too hard then.
I dropped my bag in the room and checked the progress of my books before changing my dress to casual baggy jeans and a hoodie that actually belonged to Maddison. I tied my hair in a ponytail before leaving the room and heading toward the kitchen. "Do you want to cook today, Madam?" one of the maids asked me, and I nodded. "I will be the one to prepare his food today. You guys can just stand around to help me with some things," I told them as I picked up the knife, and the cooking started.
A few hours later, I had prepared the special dish I wanted to make for him, and I was just about to leave the kitchen when I heard the sound of a car driving into the mansion. "Guess there is a visitor," I said, and the maids nodded. "No, that's him. Madison is back," Lolita corrected me, and my eyes lit up. I rushed out of the kitchen with the apron still on my chest and smiled the moment I saw Madison coming out of his car.
"Madison!" I called as I rushed over to him, but the expression on his face made it obvious that he wasn't pleased to see me, which disappointed me a little. But I shrugged it off and looked into his eyes. "Good afternoon,"
I greeted, but he gave no reply. I smiled and grabbed his hand, pulling him toward the door. "Come with me. I've prepared your breakfast," I told him as I dragged him toward the dining area and made him sit. "Don't be so shocked when you see what I've prepared for you, okay? Wait here for me while I go and bring it," I told him and left to bring the food.
A few minutes later, I returned with the food and placed it on the dining table. "Here it is," I said, and he raised his head to look at me. "Why are you doing this? Why are you not signing the paper? Is it because of the baby?" he asked, but he did not wait for my reply as he continued. "If it's because of the baby, then you don't need to worry because the baby is mine, and I will take care of it whether you are here or anywhere," he said, and my eyes twitched. Tears welled up in my eyes as I stared at him. "I'm not doing this for the baby. I'm doing this because I've grown to love you, Madison," I revealed to him, and I saw his brow furrowed
