Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 253

In the next moment, Everett rolled off her, his voice still thick with desire. "Selena, today you owe me one. Get yourself back in shape soon, because you definitely owe me big time!" Selena knew Everett wasn't the kind to deny himself anything, especially when it came to matters like this. Yet, here he was, stopping on his own accord...

She felt a confusing mix of emotions swirling in her chest-bittersweet, full, and strangely touched. Her dark eyes locked onto his, flickering with all sorts of emotions. "Selena," he called out her name again, suddenly.

"Hmm?"

"If you keep looking at me like that, I won't be able to hold back."

Her gaze was moist, filled with longing, and practically glowing, almost as if it had a pull of its own. It was enough to drive any man to distraction.

Selena simply said nothing.

She wanted to argue that her look was perfectly normal, but thought better of it. Instead, she let out a soft "Oh" and looked away.

Everett noticed her ears turning crimson and couldn't help but grin before he headed into the bathroom, stood under the shower, letting the cold water wash over him.

After waking up, Selena made her way to the hospital to visit Josh. Bored out of his mind in the hospital bed, Josh had downloaded a game to pass the time, only to find himself playing worse than a beginner, getting roasted left and right.

---

Having been a powerhouse in the business world his whole life, Josh wasn't used to being disrespected. He was all set to fire back on voice chat when someone taunted him, "Do you even know how to play? Are you a grade schooler or something?" Josh burst out laughing, all his annoyance evaporating. He proudly showed his phone screen to Selena, "Look at this, kiddo. Playing this game makes me feel young again."

Selena, wrapped up in her own thoughts, managed a faint smile.

Even though he was unwell, Josh was as sharp as ever and quickly noticed her distraction. "What's up? Did that rascal Everett give you a hard time again?"

"I..." She bit her lower lip, hesitating. She was caught in a dilemma about whether or not to tell Josh about her pregnancy. If she did, the baby would definitely be kept, and Everett wouldn't dare cross Josh.

Selena quickly shook her head. "No, it's not that."

But...

Looking at Josh's caring yet pale face, remembering how he had narrowly escaped death recently, she worked telling him might cause a clash with Everett. Josh's health couldn't take any more stress, and if anything happened, she'd never forgive herself.

The words she wanted to say got swallowed back down. Selena hid all her true emotions behind a smile and said, "I've just been a bit tired from wedding planning lately. It's nothing, Grandpa, don't worry about

me.*

Josh wasn't buying it. He knew Selena was the type to keep her troubles to herself, always swallowing her grievances for the past three years.

He gently patted her hand and said,

"Kiddo, I've already talked to the lawyer. You can pick any of my

properties you like. After I'm gone

Everett or anyone else in the Bennett family gives you trouble, you don't have to be afraid."

Hearing this, Selena felt a lump in her throat. "Grandpa, that's not how it's done."

Who ever heard of leaving an inheritance to a granddaughter-in-law?

Josh, with a twinkle in his eye, declared, "My property, my rules. I give it to whoever I want. That's the rule!"

Selena couldn't help but chuckle, "But I don't want anything. I just want you to live a long, healthy life, Grandpa."
