Love at the Wrong Table by Emmanuel Lowe

Chapter Love at Novel 2081

Chapter 2081

“Ha!”

With the crowd’s support and expectations weighing on him, Alder

Cavanaugh summoned every ounce of his strength, unleashing a more

intense barrage of Iron Storm Punches. Blood poured from his hands, but he

fought on with a rare desperation.

Yorick was forced to defend and retreat, carefully guarding his vulnerable

points.

Emmanuel observed the battle with furrowed brows. Though Yorick’s Golden

Bell technique shielded him effectively, Emmanuel had pinpointed its weak

spot–right at the navel. Unfortunately, Alder was pushing himself beyond his

limits, losing the calm needed to exploit this weakness. And with Yorick

actively defending his weak spot, Alder couldn’t break through.

Finally, as Alder’s energy waned, Yorick unleashed a powerful Lion’s Roar, a

ooming shout that sent shockwaves through the air, nearly knocking Alder

off balance. If they had been fighting on solid ground, Alder might have been

able to hold his own a bit longer. But the log platform he’d chosen had now

become his greatest disadvantage.

The crowd clutched their ears in pain, many collapsing to the ground under

the pressure of the Saint–level fighter’s roar.

This is it!

Yorick ceased his roar and thrust a powerful palm strike toward Alder, aiming

to settle the match. But just when it seemed certain, Alder used his Ghost Slip

technique to dodge in the nick of time

“Impressive!” Yorick chuckled

Even Kellan and the others, who had watched Yorick’s many battles, noticed

something unusual about his grin. This was the first time Yorick showed

genuine respect for an opponent.

“Pity, though–you can’t escape defeat!” Yorick swept his leg in a powerful arc,

snapping several logs at their base, leaving the sharp katana embedded in

the ground, blade pointing upward.

Alder frowned, his options for footing had all but vanished.

In that instant, Yorick lunged forward, grabbing Alder by the ankle and

slamming him down toward the ground.

“Sh*t!”

Alder was already at his limit, lacking the agility he’d shown at the start. It

wasn’t due to age or physical decline but the sheer pressure of fighting

Yorick, where each move demanded every ounce of his strength.

He knew deep down that he was a level below Yorick, but he’d fought anyway

to defend Chanaea’s martial honor. In the end, it seemed inevitable–he

couldn’t escape defeat.

With a sickening swoosh, Alder’s face plummeted toward the razor–sharp

katana blade.

“Ah!”

“Master Cavanaugh!”

Chapter 2081 After Defeating Gwain

“Watch out!”

Gasps filled the arena, and many in the crowd instinctively looked to Gwain.

nly he could save Alder now. But Gwain stood unmoving, paralyzed by the

fear that if he interfered, Yorick would immediately turn his wrath on him. He

wasn’t ready to face Yorick and could only swallow his pride and remain

silent.

Smack!

Just

ist as Alder began to lose all hope, a figure shot forward like a gust of wind,

kicking the katana aside in a single sweep. In the next moment, the figure

caught Alder mid–fall, preventing his face from hitting the ground.

Alder quickly recovered, using the opportunity to unleash a rapid series of

kicks that forced Yorick to retreat. Yorick had no choice but to leap from the

final log, landing on solid ground.

The entire sequence happened so quickly that the crowd could barely keep

“Gah!”

Kellan Crowley and his entourage let out startled cries as the katana

Emmanuel kicked away almost struck Kellan. A bodyguard managed to

intercept the blade in time, though it left his hand injured.

The crowd watched in stunned silence as Emmanuel stepped forward, his

expression calm and unyielding.

Seeing the arrogant Shoiyans finally falter, many Chanaeans in the crowd felt

a bit of relief, though frustration still simmered. They couldn’t help but wish

that the obnoxious Kellan would just get what he deserved.

“You Chanaeans have no honor in martial arts!” Kellan shouted after calming

imself and patting his chest. “It was supposed to be a fair one–on–one, but

now it’s two against one!”

“Exactly! Chanaean martial artists have no shame–they lack the spirit of our

warriors!”

“Disgraceful!”

The Shoiyan warriors joined in with their insults, shouting and taunting.

“D*mn it, I’ll kill them myself!” Wyatt, usually level–headed, felt his temper boil

over, wanting to charge at these arrogant Shoiyans.

Gwain, however, shot him a look to hold back. He hadn’t yet mastered the

Dragon Tome and didn’t want a confrontation with Yorick. The last thing he

needed was to give Yorick an excuse to challenge him openly.

Some Ironleaf Clan members also braced to move, but Alder’s stern voice

stopped them. “Stand down, all of you!”

At his command, everyone paused.

“I lost,” Alder admitted, his voice carrying both dejection and resolve. “He’s

stronger than me. I have nothing more to say.”

The crowd, already disheartened, sank further at his words.

“Haha! So much for the Eight Supreme Grandmasters–they’re nothing

special! If you ask me, even our Shoiyan kids are stronger than Chanaea’s

so–called martial artists!” Kellan taunted the crowd once more.

Many looked to Gwain, silently hoping he would step up and challenge the

choiyan Martial Saint or at least put Kellan in his place. But Gwain remained

motionless, refusing to engage.

“Go, hang this plaque up at the Ironleaf Clan!” Kellan ordered loudly, laughing.

“Chanaean fighters just keep getting weaker!”

“That’s it–they’ve gone too far! Let’s kill them!” Finally, some hot–blooded

Chanaeans couldn’t hold back and prepared to charge at the Shoiyans,

ready to fight. But Kellan seemed entirely unfazed; he’d seen this before and

had his warriors draw their swords in preparation.

As the unarmed citizens faced imminent harm, Emmanuel finally had

enough. With a swift move, he executed a Dragon Hold, disarming one of the

Shoiyan warriors and seizing his sword. In a flash, he flung the weapon,

sending it whizzing between Kellan’s legs, stopping him cold with fear. If not

or a quick intervention from a skilled Shoiyan guard, Kellan’s leg would have

been severed.

“Good grief, that nearly killed me!” Kellan shrieked, scrambling to hide. “You…

you’re attacking a foreign diplomat! I’ll file a complaint! I demand justice!”

“Shut that filthy mouth!” Emmanuel snapped, tossing a piece of debris to

silence the so–called diplomat with a bit of well–deserved bloodshed.

Kellan dropped to the ground, cowering like a whipped dog, only saved by

Yorick, who stepped in to deflect the blow, his gaze fixed on Emmanuel.

Yorick merely smirked. “Out of respect for you, I’ll forgo hanging the plaque,

today. But remember, I came to challenge the Ironleaf Clan, not anyone else.

Rest assured, you and I will face off someday–but not today.”

“When?” Emmanuel asked, not looking to win through unfair odds or without

certainty of victory. Besides, Yorick was Santiago’s sworn enemy, and killing

him was a task best left for Santiago.

Yorick, too, had no desire for a direct clash with Emmanuel at that moment,

having used considerable energy in his fight with Alder. He knew Emmanuel

was a formidable fighter, and without a guarantee of victory, risking an

encounter in hostile territory wasn’t worth it. Even if he managed a narrow

win, he couldn’t risk Gwain or others taking advantage of his weakened state.

“After I defeat Gwain, but before my final duel with Santiago,” Yorick declared,

leaving this timeframe before turning and departing.

The crowd, however, didn’t calm down. Instead, murmurs and gasps swept

hrough, louder than ever, as they processed the implications of this

encounter.
