That Flora, even if she were a world champion, still wouldn't cut it. Even after two years at the medical center, she'd probably still be out of luck getting into Kruiz's lab. Thinking about it, Tina felt a smug little grin sneak onto her face.

Kylie, on the other hand, kept her cool. She'd been here enough times not to act like Tina, who seemed like she'd just stepped off the bus from nowhere. Just as Kylie was about to swipe her access card and use the facial scan, a soldier stepped in her way. "Sorry, Ms. Kylie, Mr. Kruiz has ordered no outsiders in the lab today."

Kylie blinked, surprised. "Is something going on with Mr. Kruiz today?"

Kruiz's lab was only open two days a month, and this was the first time anyone had been blocked from going in.

Tina's face fell too. She'd finally managed to charm Kylie into agreeing to take her to the lab, and now they were being turned away at the last second.

The soldier gave a friendly smile. "Mr. Kruiz is hosting a VIP guest today, so the lab's closed to everyone else."

Kylie was even more taken aback. What kind of VIP would make Kruiz shut down the lab? She hadn't heard any buzz about bigwigs visiting the base today.

"Any clue who this VIP is?" Kylie couldn't help but ask, her curiosity piqued. Maybe someone from one of the Lone Island elite families?

Even after years on Lone Island, Kylie had only skimmed the surface of high society. She'd never met the heads of those big families, just mingled with some of the lesser-known heirs. Dreaming of becoming the chief physician for a clan like the Falcones or the Reyes was just that-a dream.

The soldier shrugged with a gentle demeanor. "No idea."

"Thanks anyway." Kylie gave a polite

smile, but her mind was racing. Whoever Kruiz deemed important was bound to have some serious clout. If she could get on their good side, t might just boost her career.

Tina, having waited a whole month for this chance, was understandably miffed at being denied entry at the last moment, but she held her tongue. Suddenly, her eyes widened in surprise. "Kylie, look, isn't that Flora-"

Kylie, deep in thought about the mysterious VIP, snapped to attention at the mention of Flora's name, slightly annoyed. She glanced over- Kruiz's lab had two entrances: one for staff and one for everyone else. With her status, Kylie was stuck using the public entrance.

Right then, she noticed two people entering through the staff door. They were too far for her to see clearly, but she recognized one of them as Kruiz's disciple, Judson. Kylie had tried chatting him up a few times, but he was always so distant. Yet now, he seemed downright friendly with the girl at his side, almost doting?

Too far to see the girl's face clearly and Judson blocking most of the view, Kylie couldn't get a good look before they disappeared inside.

"Is that Flora?" Tina blinked. "Sure looks like her."

"Just the silhouette, that's all. No way it's Flora."

Kylie turned her gaze away. Flora had just joined the medical center. How could she know Judson or have access to the lab?

"You're right." Tina nodded, realizing

she was overthinking it. How could it

be Flora? It was just the lab coat

the similar build that fooled her.
