Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 758

For Grant, things were different. Connor knew exactly what was on Grant's mind, but Chloe was still in the dark. Even if he tried to explain, she wouldn't believe him. It was like there was this special bond between her and her friend, a boundary he just couldn't cross. It

really got to him. The more Chloe protected that boundary, the more it hurt him.

Connor hopped out of the car and strolled over. Chloe was a bit taken aback to see him: "Why are you here so early?"

Connor placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder and gave a soft smile: "I called you from the hospital, so I just came straight over."

Seeing how worn out Connor looked, Chloe asked, "Are you hungry? I can whip up a bowl of spaghetti for you."

Connor settled in beside her. Chloe wasn't really eating much; she'd only had a couple of bites. Connor glanced at her bowl of spaghetti: "I'm actually pretty hungry. Are you going to finish that?" Chloe replied, "No, I'm done. I'll get the chef to make you a fresh bowl."

Connor stopped her: "No need to go through the trouble, I'll just have yours." He grabbed a new fork and started on Chloe's bowl.

Chloe warned, "It's cold now." But Connor was already digging in.

Grant watched the scene with a slight frown before focusing back on his own meal, finishing it quickly without a word. After Connor showed up, Grant polished off his plate and went to pay the chef. Connor, still holding his fork, offered: "Mr. Grant, want us to give you a lift home?"

Sure enough, in a couple of minutes, Grant's driver pulled up. Grant came over to Chloe to say his goodbyes: "I'll be off then, see you at the office tomorrow."

"No need, my driver's just about here."

Chloe nodded but couldn't resist asking, "Hey, maybe take a few days off?"

"No need."

Chloe sighed, "Alright, but remember to change your dressing regularly."

Grant headed out. Meanwhile, Connor was leisurely working his way through the spaghetti. The dry noodles didn't even have a single veggie in them. Chloe snatched the bowl from him: "Stop eating that." She took it to the chef and asked, "Could you add some hot broth and a portion of beef stew, please?" Connor's voice drifted over from the table: "And an egg on top, please."

Chloe also ordered a bowl of pear soup and sat down with Connor while he ate. After sipping the pear soup, Chloe said, "The chandelier was Diana's doing, wasn't it?" Initially, Chloe hadn't suspected Diana. But when Connor visited Diana instead of going to the hospital with them, she started to have doubts.

Connor's face clouded over a bit

before he replied: "The Peace Dove

Hotel was originally her mom's

property. It's a breeze for her to

mess with it now. She really went all out this time. She must've been plotting this for ages."

Chloe wasn't too shocked by this revelation, just a bit let down: "When I first met her, her eyes sparkled like a Barbie doll's behind a glass window, so pure and sweet. But in just six months, she's learned to be hurtful."

A hint of sadness showed in Connor's eyes. Chloe sighed: "Yeah, people's hearts are the most unpredictable things in this world." Then she turned to Connor: "So

what's your plan for dealing with

her?"
