DECEPTION : Chapter 36
I swing open the door to Rafael’s office, and he sneers in my direction. “Have you any fucking idea what shit you left me in?”
“No. But I’m sure you’re about to tell me.” I settle into the chair opposite him.
“Warehouse four is gone.”
“Gone?” I raise an eyebrow.
“Gone, burned to the fucking ground.” He exhales loudly.
I sag back into the chair. “Shit.”
“Exactly.”
“I hope she’s worth it.” His eyes hold mine, and I nod. He releases a sigh. The poor bastard was forced into an arranged marriage with the devil woman he paid to stay out of his and his son’s lives. I knew the moment he moved the teenage nanny in he would fall for her. What we didn’t count on was her discovering Rafael’s secrets that made her feel she had no choice but to run away. When he finally tracked her down, she’d given birth to his son.
“We’re losing control, Rocco.” I swallow hard at the deflation in his words. He’s right, we’re constantly being hit with FBI raids. Gerrard’s younger brother Darryl set one of our clubs on fire as part of a setup that locked up Rafael, and now, I’ve added a whole new batch of problems to the mix, but I don’t have it in me to regret any of it.
Not a single fucking thing.
“I have Owen from STORM Enterprises looking into the Davis family. They’re corrupt as fuck, we know that. It’s just proving it.” I nod.
“How’s Tommy doing?” I ask, desperate to change the subject before I incriminate myself further in the downfall of our family.
My older brother Tommy is an ex-addict. He’s also obsessed with his young stepdaughter, so much so, she’s already pregnant with their second baby despite just having the first.
Although, I never get the younger woman thing, I can’t say I blame him. Given the chance to knock Hallie up in quick succession makes my cock ache with a need only she can satiate. The fact Hallie is all woman, curves and all, has my feet hitting the floor.
“Where are you going?”
“I need to check on my girl.”
“You only just got here.”
“I’ll be back in a few hours.” I wink at him as I head toward the door, leaving behind a tirade of insults.
