Chapter 1184
Aurora left Yerick's place and drove back to her home. As soon as she entered the door, she immediately threw her bag on the floor and almost screamed.
Angie hadn't come home all night. It was almost noon now, and still there was no sign of her. She hadn't even sent Aurora a text message.
Where the hell did that bitch run off to? She really had a nerve, acting like nothing happened while such a big issue was at hand.
At that moment, Aurora's phone rang.
She picked it up, and the caller ID showed the number of a police station. The moment she saw it was the police calling, she immediately felt guilty and threw the phone onto the couch.
Why would the police be calling her? What had happened?
Could they have figured something out? No, that was impossible. Could Angie, that bitch, have gone to turn herself in, or had she been caught?
Aurora's heart raced as she quickly ran to her room to pack her things, preparing to flee.
The phone on the couch kept ringing. She ran back to the living room and grabbed the phone, about to hang up.
Just then, she saw Angie calling her. That bitch was definitely planning to turn her in! She couldn't panic. She took a deep breath, telling herself not to lose control, then answered the phone.
"Hello, Angie?"
However, the voice on the other end of the line was not Angie's, but a man's. "Is this Miss Aurora Payne?"
Aurora swallowed nervously, steadying her nerves, then replied, "Yes, it's me. You are?"
"This is the North District Police Station. Angie Payne is your cousin, right?"
Aurora wiped the sweat off her forehead. "Yes. Is something the matter?"
Her heart jumped into her throat, her anxiety palpable.
The police explained the situation, and once they finished, Aurora's legs turned to jelly, and she collapsed to the ground. It wasn't because the police had found out something about Rebecca's death-it was Angie who had gotten into trouble herself.
"Hello? Miss Payne, are you still there?" the officer called a few times, not getting a response from Aurora.
Aurora hurriedly said, "I'm here. I understand. I'm so sorry. I'll come right over."
"Alright, please hurry. And bring a set of clothes for your cousin. She can't wear her clothes anymore."
Aurora suddenly laughed. So, it wasn't what she had been imagining.
Aurora got up from the floor, went to the bathroom to wash her face with cold water, then composed herself. After putting away her clothes, she headed out to her car.
At the police station, Aurora went through all the necessary procedures and was eventually able to bail Angie out.
When they stepped outside, the sky was gray. It looked like it was about to rain. Angie's face was still swollen, and there were many hickeys on her neck.
Aurora was holding a bag containing the clothes Angie had changed out of. The clothes were all torn up, with bloodstains on them.
Aurora, holding back her anger, snapped, "So, you went out last night to do this kind of thing?"
The police had informed Aurora that Angie had been caught for
participating in group indecency at a party. She had been with three men
at the same time, and the scene had been disgraceful.
Angie, unfazed, said, "I have needs. Who knew I'd be reported, and the police would suddenly show up?"
Angie's makeup was thick, but after a whole night of chaos, it had smudged beyond recognition.
She had to make herself look pretty to cover up her true appearance. Otherwise, her original looks wouldn't attract handsome men. Aurora could smell the stench on her and felt disgusted.
This cousin of hers was truly hypocritical. She always talked about how women should keep their virtue and spoke ill of other women, yet here she was, so dirty herself.
It truly proved the saying: a person would always preach about what they didn't practice. Angie had no morals and no decency, so she enjoyed preaching to others about it.
"Do you have any
idea how much
effort I put into bailing you out, how
many good things I had to say? Angie, I never thought you could do something like this. I'll take you to the hospital for an examination later. You better not have caught anything!"
Aurora knew Angie wasn't clean, but she never imagined she would engage in such things. Thinking back to the times she had shared a bed with Angie, she couldn't help but worry.
"What are you afraid of? Even if I have an STD, it won't affect you. We're not like that," Angie said dismissively.
Aurora lost patience. "Do you have any idea how much I spent to bail you out? If you're not going to listen to me, then pay me back the money and go home! I can't deal with you anymore."
Upon hearing Aurora's threat, Angie immediately tried to please her. "Fine. I'll do the examination."
She had finally gotten the chance to come here to have fun, and she wasn't about to leave so easily.
She had already quit her job,
planning to live a life of luxury with her cousin, She wasn't about to go back to work, where she had slaved away for very little money and was scolded by her boss every day.
