Caught In His Embrace: A Second Chance Romance

Chapter 123

Chapter 123

Seeing Sienna hesitating. Charles gave Derek a quick order.

“Derek, bring a few more scripts for Sienna. Sienna, take these home and study the role of the second female lead carefully. No rush… you’ve got time to prepare,” he said

Caught off guard by his kindness, Sienna hesitated but eventually nodded. “Alright, Mr. Carter

This week, Howard was set to move back to the Flynn residence from the hospital. What he needed most now was rehabilitation, something that could easily be done at home. The familiar environment and the presence of family would also help his recovery.

Sienna received the news directly from Miranda.

“Sienna, you must come over, Let’s all sit down for a proper family meal together,” she said..

“I understand, Miranda.” Sienna nodded.

Without any objections, Sienna agreed. When she arrived, however, she didn’t see Howard or Miranda. Instead, Josiah was out on the balcony, smoking.

Charles’s words came to mind, making Sienna uneasy. ‘Could it really be true? Did Josiah blacklist Enio in the industry… for me she wondered.

Before she could step inside, Yvette came down the stairs

and walked straight to the balcony.

“Josiah, why did you do it?” Yvette’s brows furrowed in clear discontent.

“What are you talking about?” Josiah flicked the ash off his cigarette, looking puzzled.

“Enio,” Yvette said pointedly. “My charity promo, right in the middle of production, the producer is gone? I heard you blacklisted Ento in the industry!”

“Oh, him.” Josiah nodded slightly. “Yeah, that’s true.”

His offhand tone made Yvette laugh in frustration. “Are you serious? Did you not know I was working with him? This promo was his investment!”

Now that Enio was blacklisted, the promo was effectively dead..

“Yvette, Josiah frowned and took a long drag of his cigarette. “Do you think Enio’s a good person? Have you forgotten what he did to you?”

“What he did?” Yvette paused, then remembered. “You mean that time at the project launch party, when he put his arm around my waist?”

Josiah’s silence was confirmation enough. I told you then not to work with people like him, lowlifes who can’t keep their hands to themselves,” he said flatly.

“You…” Yvette was momentarily at a loss for words. “Sure, he’s a bit sleazy, but it’s not like he actually did anything to me.” No, Enio hadn’t done anything else to Yvette. But he had touched Sienna. And that was something Josiah couldn’t say

Instead, he replied, “Do we really have to wait until he does something worse to deal with him?”

“Yvette.” Josiah’s expression darkened further. “Howard’s awake now. If he found out about this, trust me, he’d come down on Enio even harder than I did.”

Yvette fell silent at that. To eutsiders, Howard always seemed warn and agreeable.

But those close to him knew that his calm demeanor was precisely why he was so formidable. A truly mild–mannered person wouldn’t be capable of leading the Flynn family.

Noticing Yvette’s shift in expression, Josiah softened his tone. Tjust one promo. If you really want to do it, you can pick it up again later.”

Whatever they discussed after that, Sienna didn’t catch. She had stopped paying attention because, honestly, she didn’t care anymore. She clutched her chest and exhaled sharply, relief washing over her.

Thank goodness. See? There’s no way Josiah did this for me, she wondered.

Of course, it was for Yvette. That made sense. That was how it should be. Once again, she had simply benefited from Yvette’s influence.

Feeling a weight lifted, Sienna walked inside with a newfound lightness in her step. Miranda was in the sunroom with Howard.

“Hi, Miranda, Howard, Sienna greeted them.

“Sienna, you’re here!” Miranda quickly set down the book she had been reading aloud to Howard.

Miranda pouted slightly. “You’ve come just in time. Howard’s been complaining that I’m annoying him.”

“How could that be?” Sienna smiled.

“How could it not?” Miranda complained. T’m just trying to get him talking as soon as possible, but look at him… he’s so annoyed.

Sienna couldn’t help but laugh. “Miranda, maybe we should try a different approach?”

She suggested. “When you’re reading to him, the sentences are probably too long. It’s tough for Howard to follow along.” As she spoke, she pulled out a stack of flashcards from her bag, the kind kindergarten kids use to learn words. Holding them up, Sienna smiled at Howard. “Howard, here you go. Read these one by one, a word at a time, okay?”

Howard, now able to sit up, was leaning against his wheelchair. He gave Sienna a faint smile and managed to utter a muddled syllable.

“Okay…” he murmured.

“Wow!” Miranda clapped her hands, beaming. “Sienna, you’re so thoughtful!”

It wasn’t so much thoughtfulness as it was experience. The doctors had said Howard needed to start from the basics, like a child, to reawaken his cognitive and physical functions. This reminded Sienna of Joyce.

When Joyce had started learning to speak, she had bought these exact flashcards and taught her one word at a time. So, she had simply bought another set.

Sienna smiled warmly at Howard. “Howard, congratulations on waking up and coming home. Don’t rush. It’ll get better, step by step

Howard gave a slow but deliberate nod.

At that moment, Josiah and Yvette walked in, one after the other. Seeing the scene before him, Josiah couldn’t help but think, ‘Sienna really does care about Howard.

It made sense. Howard had always doted on her. Sienna had grown up, though. She was no longer the spoiled, self–centered girl she used to be. She knew how to show gratitude to those who had cared for her.

She was that way with Miranda and Howard. But Josialt wasn’t on her list of people to repay.

After dinner, Sienna was ready to leave Miranda turned to Josiah and instructed. “Make sure you drive Sienna home safely.

Got 1

“Got it, Grandina,” Josiah nodded.

Before Sienna could protest, Miranda had already ushered her to the car. Once outside the Flynn family estate, the car was quiet. Neither of them spoke.

Just drop me off at the corner up ahead,” Sienna said, pointing toward the intersection.

Josiah lazily countered. ‘Grandma told me to take you home, nog just to the corner.”

“Well…” Sienna explained, “Cedric is coming to pick me up.”

Josiah paused, realizing. Her boyfriend was on his way, so there was no point in arguing. He wouldn’t win that one.

“Alright then. Josiah nodded, his grip on the steering wheel tightening

When they reached the corner, he pulled over. “Where’s Cedric he asked, not seeing any cars nearby.

Just a second.” Sienna said, pulling out her phone and dialing. Cedric, where are you? I’m at the corner. Are you here yet?” Looking up, she spotted a silver–gray Pagani gliding toward her from down the street.

“I see you. I’ll hang up now,” she said, ending the call before turning to Josiah.

Josiah gave a small nod, clearly understanding. As he leaned back into his seat, something seemed to cross his mind. Looking up at her, he suddenly asked, “Do you prefer dancing, or do you want to go into show business?”
