Chapter 114
Chapter 114
When Howard heard this, he looked both surprised and a little anxious
He furrowed his brows, glaring at Cedric. His throat rumbled as he wanted to say something, making Cedric feel a little awkward.
“Alright,” Yvette said, holding him back and patting his hand. “Don’t worry, Cedric got Miranda’s approval, so everything’s
fine
She turned to Cedric and smiled. “Howard’s just being a big brother. He thinks of Sienna like a sister, and now that she’s got a boyfriend, of course he’s concerned. He doesn’t mean anything by it.”
“Yeah” Cedric nodded, smiling. “I understand.”
He then looked at Howard “Don’t worry. Howard, I’m serious about Sienna. Ill take good care of her.”
Howard fell silent, but his brows stayed furrowed, not entirely relaxed.
After leaving the hospital room, Yvette walked them to the door I still need to take care of Howard, so I won’t be able to see ‘you off. Thanks for coming to visit hun”
“No problem” Cedric asked. “Go ahead and take care of him. Sienna and I will head out now.”
“Alright” Yvette nodded.
Once the door closed, Sienna didn’t say a word.
“Sienna“” Cedric waved his hand in front of her face. “What are you thinking about? You look like you’re in a daze.”
“No, nothing. Sienna snapped out of her thoughts, shaking her head.
She couldn’t help but feel that something was off with Yvette and Howard. It seemed like there was something between them
But what? Never mind, though. Howard is awake, so whatever it is, I trust he’d take care of it. As for the truth about what happened all those years ago, we would only find out once Howard is better, she wondered.
“We should go,” she said.
“Okay” Cedric nodded.
Cedric drove Sienna back to 12th Avenue. They got stuck in some traffic when passing through the commercial street.
The car stopped at an intersection, and Sienna leaned against the window, sniffing the air. “That smells so good
Cedric, noticing her expression, smiled. “What do you smell?”
The windows were closed, so there was no way the smell should be getting inside.
“Right there. Sienna pointed to a spot just up the road. “There’s a shop selling handmade chocolate. That scent has been -stuck in my head.”
“Let me take a look, Cedric leaned his head out the window, then smiled. “Hold on.”
The light turned green, and he started to drive. But instead of ging straight, he slowly pulled over by the handmade chocolate shop.

“What are you doing? sien asked, watching him unbuckle his seatbelt.
Cedric raised an eyebrow. “Buying some handmade chocolate.
With that, he got out of the car.
“Hey,” Sienna hesitated for a moment before getting out and following him.
There was a line in front of the shop, and Cedric stond at the back, waving to Sienna as she approached.
“Just wait, we’ll have some in a minute.” He smiled.
“Hey…” Sienna couldn’t help but smile. She’d just mentioned it, aber all.

In the crowd, Cedric’s tall figure stood out, and Sienna started counting on her fingers. “There are six people in front of him, now five…
She couldn’t help but think about how Joyce loved chocolate too. But since it was hard for her to digest, Sienna only allowed her to have two pieces at a time.
She missed Joyce so much. Even though they video–called every couple of days, Sienna couldn’t wait for her surgery to be over so they could finally reunite.
Lost in her thoughts, she realized they had reached Cedric’s turn
“I’ll have a milk chocolate one,” he said.
“Sure,” the cashier said with a smile. “You’re lucky, that’s the last one of the milk chocolate.”
“Wait… That’s the last one?” A girl peeked over Cedric’s shoulder and the shopkeeper nodded, repeating, “Yes, that’s the last one. This gentleman just bought it.”
“Hey, handsome.” As soon as the girl saw it was a man, she clasped her hands together and pleaded. “I really, really want that milk chocolate. Could you maybe let me have it?”
If it were anyone else, Cedric would have been happy to show some gentlemanly spirit but not this time.
He shook his head apologetically. “Sorry, I can’t do that.”
“What?” The girl was taken aback by the refusal. “You’re a grown man, so why not just give it up? Are you really that petty?” Cedric just smiled and didn’t argue. “Sorry.”
“How about this?” The girl gritted her teeth. “Tll give you an extra 2 dollars if you let me have it. What do you say?” Cedric shook his head again. “Sorry, it’s not about the money”
He glanced at Sienna, who was standing a few steps away. “I’m really sorry, but you’ll have to wait for the next batch? “Sir, here you go.” The shopkeeper handed him a paper bag, and Cedric quickly took it, nodding at the angry girl.
“Sorry again,” he smiled.
He then walked straight over to Sienna.
“Here you go.” Cedric presented the milk chocolate like it was a measure. “The shopkeeper said this flavor is the best. It’s the last one, so you should try it
He unwrapped the chocolate and took a bite. “Ouch.” The wrapper scratched his hand, and Cedric quickly pulled his hand

back, nervously tugging at his earlobe, giving a sheepish smile. s really good, though.”
Carefully, he took another piece, unwrapped it, and brought it to Sienna’s mouth. “Here, open up”
“Okay.” Sienna lowered her head, opening her mouth to taste it.
“So, how is it?” Cedric asked, eager.
“Yes!” Sienna puffed her cheeks and gave a thumbs–up, “It’s really good.
“Great, let me peel another for you,” he continued.
Sienna stayed quiet. She had seen everything how the girl had begged Cedric, and how he hadn’t given in.
She bit her lip and asked, “Why didn’t you let the girl have it? Aren’t you afraid she might blame you?”
Cedric thought for a second before breaking into a small laugh do feel bad for her, but I bought it for you. No way I’m giving it up to a stranger.”
Sienna blinked, her eyes growing misty. For the first time, someone had put her first.
“What’s wrong?” Cedric noticed her eyes were red as if she was about to cry. “Did you choke on it?”
He remembered chocolate could be hard to swallow sometimes
“Do you need some water? Cedric panicked, “I have some in the car. I’ll go get it for you.”
He took a step forward, then stopped, realizing something was of “Sienna, come with me. It’ll be quicker.
Sienna smiled through her tears. “Don’t worry I’m fine. I didn’t choke.”
“Are you sure?” Cedric looked at her closely. Her eyes were red, though. “Then what’s wrong?”
Sienna took a bite of chocolate. “Because the chocolate is really good.”
“Huh?” Cedric blinked, confused, but when he saw Sienna’s bright smile, he relaxed.
He probably understood why now. “Sienna, there are people who care about you. I don’t know if I’m the first, but I’m sure I won’t be the last.”
At that moment, Sienna’s heart ached, and she almost couldn’t hold back her tears.
She took a deep breath, forced a smile, and nodded. “Yeah, I believe you.”
No matter what happened in the future, no matter if anyone else cared for her, she would never forget this moment.
And then, just a few days later, something happened.
