Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia)

Chapter 1004

As Frederick wasn't familiar with the place, so he transferred Alicia to Carson's hospital as soon as her situation was stable. Being at Carson's hospital made him feel much more relaxed. He stayed with his wife and son in the ward everyday, and watched as his son grew

into a fair and plump baby. The sight of it made him overjoyed.

Apart from resting, eating, drinking, and feeding, Alicia almost didn't have to do anything at all.

That day, Alicia fell asleep in a daze. When she opened her eyes and saw the little bean sleeping peacefully next to her, she felt as if he was the sun that had brightened up her whole life.

Alicia broke into a smile as she heard the sound of the soft breathing and felt the smooth texture of the baby's skin. All of a sudden, she heard sounds of whispering coming from outside. "Huh? Is he still here?" She mumbled.

Alicia glanced at the door, then lifted up her blanket and walked over in that direction.

At the door, Frederick furrowed his brows as he read the report. "Is she really fine now? Is the poison in her body really gone? I thought I'd have to give her the antidote! How did this happen?" Alicia was flabbergasted, and paused her footsteps. Poison? What poison? Who were they talking about?

"The substance has indeed disappeared!" Carson shrugged as he said. He was a little puzzled as well, as he had done multiple tests with her blood, but the results appeared to be normal. "This means that she won't even need the antidote anymore! What about the baby? What about my baby? Is he fine too?" Frederick asked.

Carson explained, "It seems that the baby is fine so far! Perhaps it's a gift from God, Frederick! It's a fortunate thing that Alicia is fine! If the mother is healthy, the baby is bound to be healthy as well! Technically speaking, we could tell that Alicia's health condition was better than that of usual pregnant ladies just by looking at the baby! I was thinking if her pregnancy might have affected the body's mechanisms, or perhaps the progesterone produced during her pregnancy might've inhibited the effects of the substance? So, Danica's drug might not have had a chance to take effect at all. After all, the effects of the drug could be influenced by many factors, so it would have had different effects on different people! Why else would it be like this?"

He shook his head before continuing.

"After all, we did find the unusual substance in her previously, and we've tested it on the mice before as well! Indeed, it caused damage to the nerves, and it led to dementia. Observing that the mice rolling around, it was a response to the drug, meaning that they were in pain. Of course, this is only my guess for now. I've extracted progesterone from the animal's body, and I'm doing tests now!" he said.

Could that be the case? So, were all of his efforts in vain?

However, he clearly remembered that Alicia did show symptoms such as forgetfulness!

He was just about to say something when he heard a female voice from behind. "What are the both of you talking about? Are you talking about me?" Alicia couldn't believe her ears, and she was bewildered. What poison were they talking about? What substance? What's wrong with Danica?

Frederick turned around suddenly, and said immediately, "You're awake! Why did you come out?"

He pushed her back into the ward and said, "It's cold outside, you will get a cold. Well talk about it in the ward!"

"Hubby, what were you talking about just now?" she asked again.

At the sight of that, Carson gave Frederick a glance.

"If there's nothing else, I'll be off then! Don't worry, this place is strictly private, only our close friends and relatives will be able to come in!" Carson said.

Carson left, and Frederick took Alicia back into the ward. He closed the door, and draped a jacket over her shoulder. Then, Frederick carried her onto his lap, and told her about everything that had happened.

After hearing about everything, Alicia burst into tears. "So, that was the reason why you gave in to Danica?"

So, he endured all the pain and misery alone because he needed to get her antidote, because he didn't want her to be in pain, and because he was worried that she would feel inferior and leave?

She recalled the scene two days ago, when he said that his hair had turned white because he thought that she had passed away from the plane crash. Alicia couldn't stop her tears from flowing. She clung onto his neck and stroked his grey hair as she sobbed profusely. She said, "That's so silly of you! No wonder you did so many things previously, and you even told me to stay with my parents and not to return. No wonder Danica told me about all of these, and tried to provoke me into attending your wedding with her..."

It turned out that he wanted to resolve all the problems on his own while hiding the truth from her. If Danica hadn't told her about it, she wouldn't have known about it at all, and she would've enjoyed being Mrs. Clements while indulging in his love and care. He had protected her from all of the disasters secretly.

However, he didn't expect Danica to tell her about it. He initiated his backup plan, but things didn't escalate the way he thought they would, and they ended up going through so much troubles.

As Alicia recalled the scene at the airport and during her delivery, she felt exceptionally moved.

"Don't cry, don't cry, you can't cry now! It'll damage your eyes! Don't cry, be a good girl!" he said.

Frederick kept wiping her tears away, and hugged her tightly, as if he was trying to squeeze her right into his body.

"You being alive is the greatest gift

that God has ever given to me! Thank God! Not only were you given a second chance to live, but I was also given a chance to live as well, and our family had been given the chance to reunite! I've donated 300 millions dollars to charity, as an act to get rid of our bad luck, and to precipitate good luck for you and our child. In the future, well do more charity works, so that God will bless us and our child!" Frederick said.

Frederick couldn't describe his gratitude, and he just lowered his head and landed a kiss on her forehead.

He continued, "Ally, I really thought

that I had lost you, and that I would have to spend the rest of my life in darkness. I'll never hide anything from you in the future, whether good or bad. Please don't ever leave me again! You're the only one love, and I've never done anything to betray you, never..."

Even though it was only a false alarm, Frederick didn't think that he would be able to handle it if it were to happen again.

Alicia said, "I know. I knew it when

you pushed me away during the

wedding, but refused to say that you don't love me for the second time! I believe you, and I've always believed

in you! I didn't leave because of sorrow, but because I trusted you and because I had to maintain a good mood for our baby. I wanted to give you some time to deal with the situation as well. I remember our promises... all of our promises! Didn't you see my posts? I've posted all of them for you for the last six months! I remember posting a loving picture of a mother cat and a kitten, to tell you that I was not alone, and to tell you that I was pregnant!"

Frederick had a faint impression of the post, and muttered, "Huh? Wasn't it a male cat and a female cat eating together?"

Alicia was baffled as she poked him in his chest. "What were you thinking? Which couple has such a big difference in sizes?" It was so obvious, couldn't he tell?
