Chapter 1002
In the hospital, the door to the operation room was closed, and Frederick finally returned to his senses.
"Are you all right, Frederick? Do you need to get a checkup?" Chet asked.
"I'm fine..." he said.
Frederick's gaze shifted to the operation room. Hearing her screams coming from inside the operation room, Frederick felt his heart sinking. He was frustrated, and he punched the wall heavily with his fist. In an instant, traces of blood filled up the space between his fingers.
Chet stood between his fist and the wall, and said, "Don't do this, Frederick!"
Frederick flung his arm away, and tugged onto his own hair aggressively.
"Why is this happening, Chet? Did I really make a mistake? I shouldn't have hidden it from her. I shouldn't have hidden the truth! I should've known that she was different from other women. If I betrayed her, she was definitely not going to wait for me anymore!" he said. He yelled, "I was too confident. I thought that even if she wasn't going to wait for me for three years like she did for Jeremy, she would've at least waited for a year or so..."
"However, it's only been less than a year! I almost killed her, and now she's..." He paused.
"What should I do?" he asked.
Fredrick was regretful. He shouldn't have hidden the truth from her while compromising with Danica. He should've told her the truth about everything!
What was the use of him getting the antidote then, even if she was still alive and being in front of him? He was still going to lose her!
She was pregnant with another man's child...
He always thought that he'd be able to accept anything, and that he wouldn't be bothered at all. Yet, at that moment, Frederick felt as if he had been stabbed in his heart. It was so painful that he couldn't even move! Chet raised his hand and patted him on the shoulder, sighing deeply.
He said, "Perhaps this is fate, Frederick! Have you ever thought about which outcome you'd rather have? If you compare the plane crash, with this..." It was where she was pregnant!
Chet took a pause, and continued, "If you were allowed to choose, which outcome would you rather have?"
"This, of course!" Frederick said.
After making the decision without hesitation, Frederick felt much better, as if everything that bothered him just vanished. "You're right, this is nothing when being compared to her being alive. As long as she's alive, anything else is fine!" He might have not been able to accept it as it was sudden, but all he needed was just some time. Whether the child was able to be saved or not, he still had a chance!
Honestly speaking, some evil thoughts had flashed across his mind at that instant earlier, such as why he didn't tell the ambulance to drive slower just then.
However, coming to think of it then, he wanted to slap himself and he hated how lowly he was. How could he think of putting her life at risk for a baby who hadn't been born yet? After all, the baby was already part of her life! If he wanted to be with her again, he had to accept it!
Whether she was good or bad, and whether or not he liked the situation, he could only accept it! It was already a gift from God for her to be alive, so how could he have such evil thoughts?
There was nothing more important than her!
All of a sudden, Frederick remembered something, and said in frustration, "D*mn it! The antidote! Danica's antidote!"
He had thrown it away! He thought that she was gone, so he didn't take the other half of the pill at all!
Was God really pulling his legs? He was going to lose everything just because of that one wrong step he took!
He was exasperated and irritated. Just as he was about to get up, a little red bag entered his sight, and he snatched it over right away.
He exclaimed, "This is..."
Chet said, "I decided to pick it up while I was there! We've put in so much effort for it, and I just felt that it was a pity to leave empty handed!"
The truth was that he was worried that Frederick was going to regret his decision when he thought about it in the future. After all, he had never been in his right mind ever since the plane crash, and he no longer considered the consequences when making decisions! He was madly wilful!
"Chet!" Frederick shouted.
He gave Chet a big hug out of excitement!
At that moment, the door of the operation room opened. Fredrick went around him and rushed forward, asking, "Doctor, how is my wife? Is she all right?"
"Your wife is going to give birth soon! You'll have to sign this document!" the doctor said.
Frederick and Chet were stunned again, as if they had been struck by lighting. "What?"
Was she going to give birth already?
Frederick took the pen, but he was still perplexed, and muttered unconsciously, "Isn't she only four or five months pregnant?"
The doctor reprimanded, "Are you
her family member or not? Have you
seen a four-month-pregnant lady with such a huge belly? She has been pregnant for thirty six weeks, and her water had just broken! it's an early delivery, and she's going to
givel
birth soon, please quickly sign the document! Make sure to fill in whether to prioritize the life of the adult or the baby during an
emergency!"
As soon as the doctor was done speaking, Fredrick tugged his sleeve and said, "Prioritize the adult! Doctor, you have to use the best things for her! If anything happens, you must save my wife first!" After that, he signed the document at once.
Very soon, the door of the operation room was closed again. Frederick grabbed Chet's hand as his body trembled in excitement.
"Frederick, she's been pregnant for nine months!
It's your child!" Chet exclaimed.
Frederick was so excited that he couldn't say a word, and just nodded profusely instead. However, after the immense joy, he felt a surge of anxiousness again.
He said, "Yet, her condition..."
He had already taken all of the precautions, so how did she get pregnant? Was it going to be dangerous for her to give birth with her health condition?
Frederick was glad, but almost at
the same time, he had already
chosen to give up on the child. His gaze was fixed upon the door of the operation room, and his lips were pursed tight into a line. The thrilled expression on his face stayed shortly, and had turned into endless worries and misery.
Chet thought of it as well, and patted his shoulder as he said, "The doctor didn't mention about it, so the child must be fine! I'll give Master Vives a call, so that he can prepare to help out!" Frederick said, "Right, hurry! Tell him to bring the best gynaecologist with him!"
Two hours after the call and running around busily, Carson arrived hurriedly with the gynaecologist.
"Frederick, I've heard that Alicia is still alive, congratulations!" he said.
The two of them chatted for awhile. As the delivery was still going on in there, and they didn't allow outsiders into the room, Carson ordered a doctor to do a checkup for Frederick first. From the beginning to the end, Frederick's mind wasn't on the checkup at all, while Chet was the one who asked, "How is he, Master Vives? Is Frederick okay?"
Carson answered, "He's fine! It was
due to the drastic changes between emotions, and he was probably overstimulated. After experiencing immense happiness and sorrow, his reaction was basically a way to relieve the stress, and it actually helped him to vent his changes in emotions! It's better for him to vent his emotions than hold them in, but he'll have to be more careful in the future. Even a body made of steel won't be able to endure such torture. I'll prescribe some medications for him, and he'll be fine after some rests!"
Carson blabbered a lot, but Frederick wasn't listening at all. After a while, a crying sound came from the operation room, and the door was opened. Frederick ran over immediately. "Doctor, how is my wife? Is she all right?" he asked with concern.
The doctor said, "She's fine, she's just a little weak now. You all can go in and see her now! Congratulations..."
Before the doctor was done speaking, Frederick already strode forward and caught up with the hospital bed, which was moving in the direction of the ward.
"Ally..." he called out.
