Chapter 4137
Raphael took her home in the car.
Upon reaching the villa, they found the security guards absent, prompting Raphael to step out and open the gate himself.
Elissa couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sadness as she observed him.
Observing her expression, Raphael understood her thoughts as he returned to the car.
Leaning closer, he softly assured her, “I’ve endured much tougher challenges in the past… This is nothing.
”
Tenderly, he clasped her hand, his palm radiating warmth against her cold fingers.
They didn’t talk about love, but their connection ran much deeper than mere love.
Even though Raphael was being almost self-destructive, there was a woman who really got him, understood him well, and was willing to stick around, even if she insisted she didn’t do it because she loved him.
In that moment, Raphael found her utterly adorable.

And in that same moment, he also felt a sudden sense of liberation.
He grasped why Olivia had fallen for Dylan.
After all, falling in love could really happen in the blink of an eye.
When people felt most vulnerable and sensitive, they tended to give their heart to someone they trusted.
He felt like he’d given his heart to Elissa at this moment.
He thought she’d help him keep it safe and hidden.
He thought he’d never take it back as long as she wanted to keep it.
Following several turns, the Land Rover stopped at his residence’s gate.
Raphael glanced at the clock-it was already midnight.
As he unfastened his seat belt, he cast a sidelong glance at Elissa and softly inquired, “Feeling hungry? I can whip up something for you.
”
Despite lacking appetite, Elissa softly expressed, “I’d like some noodle soup.
”
He agreed with a nod.
After stepping out of the car, he offered to help her to the living room.
Elissa responded with a faint smile, saying, “I’m not that helpless yet.
I can walk by myself.
”
Raphael lowered his gaze, his eyes brimming with affection, as he regarded her.
Elissa looked up at him, her voice slightly trembling.
“You should use the money you set aside for me and the baby to start over.
I have my own money.
Besides, tough times are ahead.
We won’t be living so comfortably anymore.
”
She wanted to tell Raphael that this was the biggest risk she had ever taken in life.
She hoped he wouldn’t let her down.

But then she realized that, since it was a gamble, there was no guarantee of winning.
Under the street lamp, Raphael looked at her quietly.
Finally, he gently held her fingertips and said in a hoarse voice, “Be careful as you walk.
I’ll go make the noodle soup.
”
She nodded and walked into the house.
